What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Doctrinal Statement

The following are the core beliefs of Grace Bible Church of Cedar Ridge based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Word of God

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. The whole Bible, including both Old and New Testaments, is inerrant and infallible in its original documents. The Bible is the divine standard, and is sufficient for all matters of doctrine, faith, practice, and godliness.

The Trinity

We believe there is one God. He is perfect and infinite in all His attributes. He is Lord of the universe, having created it by the power of the word of His mouth alone, apart from any natural processes, and He is Lord over mankind, having created us in His image. Within the nature of the one true God are three distinct Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three Persons are co-equal and co-eternal.

God The Father

We believe in God, the father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ and is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.

Salvation

We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit. We believe that salvation is by God’s grace alone, apart from any works of man. God’s only provision for salvation is the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Saving faith is not only an intellectual assent to the facts of the gospel, but a heart commitment to willingly trust, submit to, and obey the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe once a person is saved, that salvation can never be lost or rejected.

The Church

We believe the church (universal) consists of all persons who have trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation. Each local body consists of believers who are together for worship, fellowship, teaching, evangelizing, and exercising spiritual gifts.

The Ordinances

We believe the Biblical ordinances (commands) for the believer are water baptism by immersion and communion.  Baptism is an act of obedience whereby a believer makes a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ. Communion is an act of obedience where we remember the sacrifice of Christ and anticipate the glories of His kingdom to come. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Last Things

We believe in the personal, premillennial and imminent return of Jesus Christ.  We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting glory, and the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting punishment.
